It can be scary joining a workshop series that’s identity-focused. Especially when everyone’s disability experience is different. At Sick Stories, we try to curate spaces that are safe and welcoming to show up with as much or as little as attendees can manage.
Here’s some feedback we’ve received from anonymous post-series surveys:

Sunday Scribbles Club attendee, March 2024:

Having a scheduled time to write meant that I was writing more and the community that has grown through these sessions has been really lovely to be a part of. It feels like a really safe, supportive space to express yourself creatively.

Writers Circle attendee, December 2024

I gained a new sense of community that was truly exceptional, I felt comfortable sharing and exploring elements of being disabled and ill in a manner that has never felt safe in other groups or gatherings and this opened my comfort in exploring these things in writing in a way I'd never thought of before.
